Non-standard flange is designed used for sealing and fastening. It is extensively applied in aerospace industry, petroleum industry and chemical industry. Leaving aside processing capability, the flange features a relatively large size, which makes transportation quite difficult. Hence, integrated machining is impossible, which makes it necessary to divide the flange into different parts and then produce them separately. Generally, the flange is divided into several arcs, which are manufactured individually.
First, we need to forge work-blanks into square billets, which are then turned into arcs by cold bending. After annealing and thermal treatment, those arcs make up a whole circle, which will be put on a vertical lathe where the shape and the size are determined. Then, the flange will be delivered to construction sites, where arcs get welded together and then welded onto a pressure container as a whole.
Non-standard flange includes vessel flange and pipe flange. With the same nominal diameter, vessel flange and pipe flange have different sizes. Therefore, they are not interchangeable. Non-standard flanges are produced in accordance with different kinds of standards including GB, ASTM, JIS, DIN, UNI, HG, JB and ASME. The working pressure of non-standard flange ranges from 0.6Mpa to 32Mpa. It can be made of different kinds of steel such as 201, 202, 301, 302, 303, 304L, 309S.310S, 316, 316L, 317, 317L, 321, 410, 420, etc. Pressure grade, raw materials and standards of non-standard flange are special. Hence, users should pay attention when they need non-standard flange, so that they can choose exactly what they need.
Square Flange is referred to as either threaded or screwed. It is used to connect other threaded components in low pressure, non- critical applications. No welding is required.
